The past few months have been impactful as we at the Peletah Group acquired the New Bern Post. We are so grateful to Randy Foster for his willingness to trust us with this paper that he started. Since the transition occurred, we have been amazed by what we have experienced. There have been community members contacting us to be citizen journalists, people having problems reaching out and needing assistance for justice, story leads, and so much more. We have been working behind the scenes with state and national partners to see how to best develop the work that Randy started and to do it justice.

However, during this transition, we have personally been impacted by the devastation of COVID19 having lost 5 family members to COVID19 in the span of 6 weeks. It has been a difficult time watching community members we know and love struggle with this virus. Thus, we have focused our efforts on addressing the need for making informed decisions about COVID19. We appreciate your patience with us during this time.

But – the work of the news continues and the reality is that there are so many people reaching out to us to follow up on stories that are impacting our communities throughout Eastern North Carolina. So, we are going to take the next 60 days to re-brand the New Bern Post.

You may see questions on our page to allow us to hear from you and what matters to you so we can get your help to develop this news outlet. We will also be announcing news partners who will be helping us with story delivery. We are excited to announce we will unveil our new projects for the New Bern Post on January 1, 2022. Stay tuned!!!!
