The New Bern Planning and Zoning Board met Tuesday with two agenda items and one discussion item.
1 – Consideration of a General Plan for Miller & Brabble Properties, LLC/Robert Chiles Engineering; a proposed 2 lot major subdivision on a 9.98+/- acre tract, located at the intersection of Karen Drive and Neuse Boulevard. The property is further identified as Craven County Parcel identification number 8-241-025. (Ward 4). Plan is to build an apartment complex.Sept. 1 reviewed proposed general plan.
City staff recommended approval. The board, meeting with a bare minimum quorum, voted unanimously to approve the subdivision.
In short, the property owner wants to subdivide the C3 (commercial) zoned section of the property from the R-10 (residential) section. This would allow part of the property to be developed into a 68-unit apartment complex.

2 – Consideration of a Planned Unit Development General Plan for John Thomas Engineering/A. Sydes Construction, Inc. “Bendigo Bay”; a proposed 112 lot Planned Unit Development on a 61.21 +/- acre tract located West of Old Airport Road, and North of County Line Road. The property is further identified as a portion of Craven County Parcel identification number 7-106-001. (Ward 3).
The pubic hearing was delayed to allow soil testing. Dec. 5 planning and zoning board. 5-0
