A private school in New Bern has been contending with a cluster of COVID-19 cases of between 7 (its figures) and 10 (state figures) cases.
Also, Craven county and municipal leaders have been urged by state officials to take stronger measures after the county was identified as a “county of concern” by the White House COVID-19 Task Force.
Craven County has reported 314 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
New Bern Christian Academy was identified as a cluster location by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services this week, although the outbreak has been going on for a couple of weeks and is under control, according to school leaders in a published report here.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports that Craven County has had 2,238 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases since mid-March, while the Craven County Health Department reports 2.144 cases as of 11 p.m. Friday.
Of those, 204 are active, 10 are hospitalized, and there have been 57 deaths. October is tied with August as the deadliest months for Craven County during the pandemic, with 17 deaths each.
On the other hand, 1,908 cases are classified as recovered.
