There will be a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at from 5-7:30 p.m. for The Grill at Prohibition and Prohibition Drinks & Desserts. The ribbon cutting will be at 5:30 p.m.

The business was badly damaged in a fire last May. Thursday marks the day the restaurant is back in business following renovations and repairs.

“The Grill at Prohibition and Prohibition Drinks & Desserts is happy to announce they are back to normal operations with a new kitchen after the devastating fire that occurred earlier this year in May,” the restaurant announced in a news release. “With Covid-19 temporarily shutting down indoor seating at the time, the fire couldn’t have come at a worse time.”

The full menu begins Thursday and at 7 p.m. Jim Kohler performs. On Friday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m., Bryan Mayer performs. And on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m., brunch service returns.

Also Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 p.m., there will be a ​Smash Circus VIP Event, and on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m., brunch will be served.

The Grill & Prohibition Drinks & Desserts is located at 237 Craven St., New Bern. Owners are Chris and Grace Straight.
