The “Make a Difference Day” event scheduled for Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at 524 Roundtree St. in New Bern, the future site of My Sister’s House, has been cancelled due to recommendations to avoid group events during the current health crisis.

“While we are certainly disappointed to postpone getting started on this special project, our primary concern must be the safety of our volunteers,” said Bonita Simmons, executive director of Tried By Fire, Inc., and the founder of My Sister’s House. “We look forward to providing affordable and supportive transitional housing for up to six women coming out of prison when this house is finally restored to be a home. There will be plenty of opportunities for volunteers to be involved in our Sisters Helping Sisters campaign in the coming months.”

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the volunteer coordinator for My Sisters House by email at coordinatortriedbyfireinc@yahoo.com or call/text to 252-670-1907.
