The N.C. Department of Transportation is beginning construction on the U.S. 70 Improvements in James City project. The U.S. 70 Improvements span 5.1 miles from the Neuse River Bridge in James City to just east of Thurman Road in Craven County. The fact sheet, found here, provides an overview of what to expect during construction. The $327.56 million project is scheduled to be completed in 2023. The North Carolina Department of Transportation is constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Airline Drive and Terminal Drive at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) to permit two-way traffic both ways between Williams Road and Airport Road.  On Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, NCDOT will close Airline Drive to facilitate the actual traffic circle construction. NCDOT told EWN that Airline Drive will be closed until March 1, 2021. Terminal Drive will also have a new traffic pattern.
