The space at 223A Craven Street is a beautiful, historic mansion built in the mid-1850s that has been carefully restored so that every detail adheres to the period. The boutique’s natural lighting is breathtaking, and the space is serene.
It’s a storybook setting for Jeanne Lloyd’s Blush Boutique to nestle and thrive.
Lloyd started out with an Etsy pop-up shop creating custom veils and headpieces which she still offers both online and in the shop.
She wanted to bring unique designer gowns to New Bern, because New Bern has become such a popular bridal destination and shopping town. The Craven Street location gave Blush the perfect location to bring New Bern a couture, delightful inventory of stunning, non-traditional dresses, veils, and other wedding accessories.
You won’t find traditional ballgowns or wedding items at Blush. Instead, you’ll find classic dresses for the formal and informal bride—all are handpicked by Lloyd. Dresses by Watters, Willoughby, Wtoo, and Kite and Butterfly are featured in the boutique. Lloyd strives to bring the best designer lines to New Bern that can be purchased off the rack or special ordered in all price ranges. Kite and Butterfly, for example, specializes in lacy, boho-style dresses that are sold exclusively in New York City and at Blush only on the East Coast.
Blush operates mainly by appointment. Lloyd observes a few trends that have accompanied the pandemic: brides now engage in more short-term wedding planning, and they are having smaller weddings. This new approach is putting more priority on the bride and groom and on an increased budget for the wedding dress.
To accommodate weddings that are planned more quickly, Blush can accommodate any bride with off the rack and specialty veils and accessories and traditional rush orders in as little as a few weeks for many styles.
