Four unidentifiable Craven County residents died of COVID-19-related causes since Friday over a weekend that saw an increase of 88 lab-confirmed cases in the county.

Hospitalizations of Craven County COVID-19 patients have declined to 16 after reaching a record high 25 cases on Friday. Some of that decline may be because of the four deaths over the weekend.

“Regardless of what you might see or hear from well-intentioned media and others, COVID-19 is a potentially serious illness. We have had 46 deaths at CarolinaEast (not all from Craven County) and currently we still have patients requiring ventilators. Please do not take this lightly!” CCHC said in its patient newsletter released today.
