Craven County had one new death and leapt past the 2,300 mark in COVID-19 cases since lunchtime Thursday.
An unidentified person became the 62nd death in Craven County due to complications related to COVID-19 on Thursday. The person, who like the 61 who died before him or her, had underlying health conditions. Testing took place on Oct. 5 and came back positive the next day.
As usual, the Craven County Health Department did not release further information to protect the family’s privacy.
Of Craven County’s 2,327 cases, 181 are active and 12 are hospitalized, both numbers decreasing over the past several days.
The number of recovered cases now totals either 2,084.
Numbers like these would have grabbed headlines back in March and April, but they are daily occurrences now.
