At least two of three deaths attributed in part to COVID-19 in Craven County over the past few days were patients at a New Bern skilled nursing facility that has been experiencing a major outbreak among patients and staff.
PruittHealth-Trent, a 116-bed facility located at 836 Hospital Drive, has had four deaths attributed to COVID-19 out of 55 patients who have tested positive for the illness there. Sixteen staff members have also tested positive for COVID-19.
The death toll in Craven County from COVID-19-related causes reached 15 on Tuesday, with five deaths occurring in August, now the deadliest month Craven County has experienced during this pandemic. Three deaths have occurred since the weekend, with two occurring at PruittHealth-Trent.
Meanwhile, PruittHealth-Neuse, a 110-bed facility located at 1303 Health Drive in New Bern, reported another COVID-19 case among its patients, bringing the total to three patients and two staff members.
