Brook Stone Living Center, a nursing home in Pollocksville, is enduring a major COVID-19 outbreak that has contributed to the deaths of 11 residents there.

The facility accounts for 11 of Jones County’s 17 COVID-19-related deaths.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports that the facility has had 15 staff and 56 residents who have tested positive for the virus at Brook Stone Living Center.

The facility, located at 8990 U.S. Highway 17 in Pollocksville, is not allowing visitors and all internal and external group activities are cancelled, according to its website.

Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center off Old Cherry Point Road near New Bern has experienced an increase of 18 cases, bringing its totals to 9 staff and 13 residents, for a total of 22 cases.

At area prisons, the number of inmates infected with COVID-19 is 150 at Craven Correctional Institution near Vanceboro and 103 at Pamlico Correctional Institution near Bayboro.

  1. I do not think all covid deaths in jones County were related to the nursing home. Some were related to funerals and large gatherings in the beginning of COVID. Check it out to be sure.

      The confusing part is that the county death count is 11 and so is the nursing home.

    1. The Jones County NC (Jones Co govt) Facebook page reported 17 today. If you notice, the latest update on the health dept website was in Aug. They update daily on the Jones Co govt Facebook page.
