The 10 cases of lab-confirmed COVID-19 reported Thursday by the Craven County Health Department are included in a cluster reported earlier this week, bringing the total cases in that cluster to 24.

That single cluster of family and friends account for 30 percent of Craven County’s confirmed cases to date.

The Craven County Health Department has not released any information that could be used to identify members of the cluster due to HIPAA privacy laws,

It can be concluded, however, that a majority of the new cases reside in the 28562 ZIP code area of New Bern, which also saw a spike in cases and is now at 49 of Craven County’s 79 confirmed cases.

  1. It would be helpful to know a specific location for the cluster of cases especially. A zip code is not helpful. This should be public health information.
